Todd Chrisley Shocked by Oldest Son Kyle’s Apology During Prison Visit
ATLANTA — Former reality TV star Todd Chrisley revealed that his eldest son, Kyle Chrisley, visited and apologized to him while he was serving time in federal prison.
The disclosure was made by Todd, 56, during the series finale of The Chrisleys: Back to Reality, which aired on Tuesday, Sept. 16. According to Todd, this was the only time his 34-year-old son visited him.
“I got an apology from Kyle,” Todd said. “I was in shock. He hugged me and went over to the vending machine and bought me a water.”

The relationship between Todd and Kyle—Todd’s son with his ex-wife Teresa Terry—has historically been fractured. However, during the visit, the father and son had the opportunity to sit down for a candid conversation.
According to Todd, Kyle took responsibility for his past actions. “He apologized for his involvement [and] for the things that he had done,” Todd recounted. “And he said, ‘If I could turn back time I would, but I can’t, and I’m asking if we can start from here and move forward.’ And that is impossible for me.”
Pardon and Family Reaction
The revelation of the reunion comes as Todd and his wife, Julie Chrisley, have been released after serving 28 months in prison. The couple was convicted of tax evasion, bank fraud, and wire fraud in 2022, but were subsequently granted a pardon by President Donald Trump.
Reacting to the pardon, Kyle issued a statement to E! News, expressing his surprise and joy.

“I am absolutely thrilled. Truly,” Kyle shared. “I just found out not too long ago and I still can’t believe it. I know they are so looking forward to being home and being with family, and I remain hopeful that another reconciliation is possible.”
Kyle also publicly acknowledged the efforts of his half-sister, Savannah Chrisley, 28, who actively campaigned for their parents’ release. “I know Savannah has fought long and hard and never gave up,” he said. “So I am very grateful to her and President Trump for making this happen for my dad and Julie.”
Custody of Chloe Chrisley
The Chrisley family’s legal saga also raised questions regarding the custody of Chloe Chrisley, Kyle’s biological daughter. Todd and Julie officially finalized her adoption just one or two months before reporting to prison. During their incarceration, Savannah was appointed as Chloe’s legal guardian.
In an episode of a Lifetime docuseries, Savannah revealed that the transfer of custody was a voluntary decision made by Chloe’s biological mother, Angela Johnson.

“Chloe’s mom allowed us to bring her home every other week. Then every other week slowly turned into every week,” Savannah recalled. “I will never forget the day she called my parents and said, ‘I need you to come get Chloe. We don’t have a place to live, and I can’t let her sleep in the car.’ She signed full custody over to us.”
Savannah also emphasized that terminating Kyle’s parental rights was not something Todd wanted to do. “My dad could never bring himself to do that and strip them of their parental rights,” she explained. “But they were forced to do it to ensure that when they left, Kyle or Angela couldn’t come back and take her.”
