King Charles surprises Pope Leo with cheeky joke during historic royal visit

King Charles met with Pope Leo in the Vatican on Thursday. The two held private meetings during the day and even prayed together. As many know, Charles is not shy of cracking jokes, and the same went for when meeting the Pope.

King Charles and Pope Leo spent Thursday together in the Vatican. It was the first time the king met the new pope after the American was elected earlier this year.

Not only did King Charles and Pope Leo make history with their first meeting. Moreover, they, the leaders of the Church of England and the Catholic Church, prayed side by side in the Sistine Chapel.

It was a historic moment, as it’s been more than 500 years since an English sovereign last prayed side by side with a pope. Charles, therefore, became the first reigning British monarch to pray with a pope publicly since Henry VIII in 1534.

King Charles cracks joke with Pope Leo

King Charles has been known as a “funny guy,” as he often jokes and laughs with those he meets, whether they’re a president, a member of the public, or, actually, a pope.

When they met inside the Vatican, Charles pointed to the cameras recording and joked that they were a “constant hazard.”

Pope Leo responded, “You get used to it.”

Fans‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ of the Royal Family see a constant stream of headlines claiming King Charles is gravely ill. Meanwhile, the King still moves around, works, and makes public appearances. So, what’s the real state of his health? According to one commentator, the truth seems far from what the media stories depict.

Agreed, It’s A Tough Time

In his Daily News Headlines vlog on YouTube this Thursday, royal commentator Neil Sean argued that although the King goes through a tough time, the palace is in full control of the situation. Additionally, he believes that there’s “no immediate cause for alarm.”

First of all, Sean confirmed that the King does have a hard fight. However, his health is being controlled. King Charles might seem frequently tired, and he has apparently lost some weight, but, it could be due to the side effects of his cancer treatment.

Naturally, from time to time, he might feel the need to take an unforeseen break from his usual routine. However, it seems that the monarch might be his own worst enemy with that. Sean pointed out that Charles behaves like a “constant worrier” who “won’t be taking any rest periods.”

Naturally, that sort of trait might raise a lot of concern among his helpers and family members.

The Family Issues

Obviously, with Prince Andrew, Sarah Ferguson, and Prince Harry constantly in the limelight, they probably stress the king as well. According to Neil Sean’s sources, Prince Harry no longer gets access to details about his father’s health condition.

The reason for that seems to lie in the fact that Harry “cannot be trusted” with confidential medical information because of his public statements. Actually, when Harry arrived in the UK recently, the word is that the King “very clearly chose not to have a conversation about his health.”

In other words, at a “most pivotal time” the youngest son of Charles is now a stranger who has been left out of the inner circle. Sean mentioned that Harry and Meghan, being abroad, probably weigh on the monarch’s mind as well.

These stresses are, without a doubt, the last things that a man of the King’s position needs in his fight against cancer or in the performance of his royal duties.

Steady But Not Dying?

The royal commentator noted that the palace communicates a sense of steadiness. Obviously, that’s not what one would expect if Charles was on his last legs. In fact, he’s been seen out and about on a number of public appearances recently.

The official line, which Sean communicated, seems to be that everything’s “business as usual.” Therefore, while the King clearly fights a difficult war, the story of his swift downfall is, at least for now, a case of the media overhyping.

In truth, it’s more about him managing his health amid the ever-demanding pressures of holding the crown.
