Gael Cameron Reveals She Recently Had Surgery: “It’s Almost Worse Than Childbirth”

The Below Deck Mediterranean cast member documented her recovery from a dental procedure: “This sucks.”

Gael Cameron is on the mend. Just days after the Below Deck Mediterranean Season 10 finale, the longtime yachtie took to Instagram to reveal her latest surgical procedure.

“So, I’m about to get my wisdom teeth [taken] out,” she said in a January 28 Story. “So, this is what my face looks like before. Yeah, I’ll let you know what it’s like after.”

Gael returned to the platform about an hour later with noticeably slurred speech.

“This is after I got all four wisdom teeth [taken] out,” she said from a car’s passenger seat. “I just went under local anesthesia, so I still can’t feel the bottom part of my mouth or my tongue. But it really wasn’t that bad. I’m a bit lightheaded.”

Gael then showed off a bag of fresh oranges, which she planned to juice as soon as she got home.

“I won’t be eating real food for a while,” she explained. “Overall, it’s not that bad.”

Well, unfortunately for Gael, the worst was yet to come. The Below Deck Mediterranean deckhand hopped on Instagram later that night to share a photo of her swollen face.

“Definitely spoke too early. This sucks,” she captioned the selfie.

Gael then posted a video in which she prepared herself a pineapple drink from a can.

“So people have been saying to eat pineapples or drink pineapple juice, so I’m gonna go ahead and do that,” she said. “I’m not about making fresh pineapple juice at the moment… Maybe tomorrow I can blend up the rest of these pineapples.”

Gael reassured her followers she was icing her face to minimize the pain and swelling, but she expected her symptoms to intensify in the following days.

“Everyone who keeps telling me, ‘Tomorrow’s gonna be the worst day. Day 3 and 4 are gonna be worse…’ Holy shit,” she said. “Well, that sucks. It’s almost worse than childbirth. At least you get a kid after childbirth… Here, you just get stitches and pain and looking like Family Guy.”

Days before her dental surgery, Gael took a moment to reflect on Below Deck Mediterranean Season 10 and her reunion with Nathan Gallagher. The pair had become romantically involved during Below Deck Mediterranean Season 9, but called it quits shortly after production wrapped. Although they had several heated exchanges aboard the Bravado, Gael and Nathan ended the charter season on a happy note.

The yachties agreed to give their relationship another chance — a decision that led to their baby boy, Kayden Cameron Gallagher.

“What a fun moment in time!” Gael captioned a series of behind-the-scenes photos. “My time may have been short, but the events changed my whole world.”
