Cathy Skinner and Max Salvador Reveal the Shocking Reason They Broke Up

Below Deck Mediterranean‘s Cathy Skinner and Max Salvador revealed what went wrong after Season 10 wrapped.
Stewardess Cathy Skinner and deckhand Max Salvador left M/Y Bravado together on the Below Deck Mediterranean Season 10 finale, but they’ve since stayed quiet on the status of their relationship after the charter season ended — until now.
In an exclusive interview with The Daily Dish, Cathy revealed she and Max are no longer a couple.
“Today, we have a friendship — we check in with each other — but Max is on his own path and needs clarity and happiness within himself before being able to share that with someone else,” Cathy explained.
Though Max was set to visit Cathy in London after filming, “he cancelled just a few hours before his flight, which was incredibly disappointing,” Cathy said. “I’d spent a lot of money preparing the house — stocking food and buying men’s toiletries. I wanted him to feel comfortable and supported. He sent me a very long message explaining that he couldn’t be exclusive and wasn’t ready for a relationship…as he had only recently broken up with his ex and hadn’t healed from that.”
Later, when Max apparently asked her to visit him in Bali instead, she declined. “I wasn’t willing to fly across the world for someone who couldn’t get on a short flight to London,” she explained.
Max, for his part, told The Daily Dish that he’s prioritizing his career at the moment. “I wanted to go and develop my online hypnosis clinic in Bali, but instead, she wants to stay in the UK,” he said, also joking that “women are from Mars and men from Venus.”
Is there a chance that Max Salvador and Cathy Skinner will get back together?
Despite the breakup, Max told The Daily Dish he still sees a romantic path forward. “Relationship-wise, I still would love our path to continue together because there is no millions that can replace a woman like her,” he said.
But Cathy was more vague about her future with Max. She told The Daily Dish that she and Max “have seen each other” since filming ended on Below Deck Med Season 10, “but only when [they] happened to be in the same place for work.”
“Everyone we know tells me he always speaks very highly of me and has a great deal of respect for me,” she said, also acknowledging that Max was a support system for her when her stepfather died while she was on charter. “I’ll always appreciate him for being there for me during one of the toughest times of my life.”
