Eric Mabius has pleaded not guilty following his Florida arrest.

The Ugly Betty alum, 53, was arrested around 2 a.m. local time on Feb. 20 on two misdemeanor charges and he issued a not guilty plea via his attorney four days later, according to court records obtained by PEOPLE.

He’s facing a battery charge and resisting arrest without violence, and according to the arrest report obtained by PEOPLE, Mabius was “extremely intoxicated and kept trying to yell at everyone” in the bar he was in on the night of his arrest.

Per the arresting officer’s report, Mabius knocked two women to the ground at the bar — one was identified as Jennifer Moreno, who was also arrested that night — and the victim told police that he “got on top of her and was pulling her hair” and “ripping a handful of her hair from her scalp” until other patrons pulled him and Moreno off her.

A witness corroborated the story, too, and told the officer that Mabius “slung both girls to the ground,” referring to Moreno and the alleged victim.

When police arrived at the bar, Mabius “became more belligerent” and was “not following simple commands.” At one point he “tried to stand up and walk behind” the officer who was “investigating the incident,” per the report.

“Several deputies had to escort [Mabius] back to the bench and placed him under arrest for resisting without violence,” per the report.

Later that day, Mabius signed a no-contact order for Amelia Bell, the alleged victim, according to documents obtained by PEOPLE. The order was a requirement for him to be released from police custody on bond while awaiting trial on the charges.

Mabius is not to have “oral or written communication in any form” with the alleged victim and remain more than 500 feet away from the alleged victim’s residence, vehicle and place of employment.

Mabius is known for his role as Daniel Meade on Ugly Betty, which he played for all four seasons, and has since become the star of Hallmark’s Signed, Sealed, Delivered franchise. He most recently starred in the franchise’s thirteenth film, A Tale of Three Letters, which premiered in July.
