Below Deck Down Under’s Captain Jason Chambers has likened the new season to an “all stars” series. Season four of the Bravo show will bring together some fan-favourites from across the franchise, with Sailing Yacht’s chief stew Daisy Kelliher and icon chef Ben Robinson joining Jason.

Speaking to Daily Star ahead of the Southampton International Boat Show, Jason teased: “There’s a returning all star collective that is going to be a powerhouse of Below Deck. You haven’t seen it before.”

He teased: “When something looks so great, is it great? There’s still work to be done.”

Speaking of working with two Below Deck icons, Jason told us: “I was excited. There’s one thing I want out of this show, I want it to be authentic and real, and that’s what it is.

“The guests come on, I joined the boat, and we’ve got to get it done. And it is real.”

He went on: “To have people that actually know the process but actually understand it and are not just there for TV, which they’re not, they don’t want to cheat things, they want it right.

“Daisy coming from sailing on to motor, it was a big step for her and we’re going to watch and see how she does.

“Ben’s coming back. He hasn’t been back for quite some time.

“It’s good working with them. It’s good to have some experience around me.”

Daisy has been the chief stew on Below Deck Sailing Yacht since season two, which aired in 2021, while chef Ben has appeared on multiple seasons of Below Deck and Below Deck Mediterranean, but has not been on any of the shows since 2019.

There’s set to be another first for the new season, as it will crossover with the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City.

Jason told us: “It’s going to be fantastic. It’s the first time we’ve ever had a crossover.

“I’ve done some events with Whitney [Rose] and Heather [Gay] before, so I actually knew them, and that’s where Heather reached out and wanted to come on a charter.

“To get to know them, collectively and individually, was such a good time.

“As a group together, well, if you watch Real Housewives you can see each and every one of those ladies are wonderful people. Individually, amazing.”

Captain Jason was an instant hit with Below Deck fans when Down Under premiered in 2022, and he revealed the show has changed his life in a surprising way.

He told us: “I didn’t see my daughter for two years because of Covid. I was stuck on a boat and I thought, ‘I’m going to give this up for two years, I don’t care how much it costs, I just want to spend time with my daughter for a few years.’

“Then they rang up, I did the show. I did one season, two seasons, and it hadn’t come out on air yet, so I really didn’t see anything from it. I wasn’t taking too much notice of it.

“Then it started to lift up a lot and I got to see my daughter more.”

He went on: “As a yacht captain, you could be away for 10 months a year, and [now] I’m able to be with [my daughter] probably nine months a year, 10 months a year, not away, so I’m seeing my daughter, I’m just grateful.”

He told us: “Now I live in Bali and I’m connected to a foundation called A Classroom Of Hope, it’s about education foremost.

“During the earthquakes in 2018, 400 schools got knocked down and they needed to rebuild schools, they started doing it, then more earthquakes.”

Jason explained that the foundation uses a fully recycled plastic waste building material which is like “Lego blocks” which can be put up in six weeks and are very sustainable, but are also resistant to earthquakes because of the flexibility of them.

He said: “We raised money last year to build two schools for 171+ children, bathrooms as well.”

Jason is also involved with Rice For Bali. He said: “There’s a lot of tourism going on in Indonesia, but they give back rice and food to the elderly and the people that are not so fortunate, which we actually kind of don’t really consider much when you go to these tourist destinations.”

This month, Jason is also heading down to the south coast for the Southampton International Boat Show.

He told us: “I love the UK audience, it’s huge, and we don’t get enough time over there.

“Things like the Southampton International Boat Show, not only does it get people looking at boats, but it gets kids interested and it might change their career.

“Sometimes a parent can just take their child to go and see something like this, and spark an interest or generate enthusiasm that could propel someone into a career or lifestyle of appreciation.

“I can’t wait to be over there. I’ll be there the kick-off, then I’ll be there the first weekend and second weekend. I can’t wait to meet the audience and partake.”
