Hannah Ferrier Refused Captain Sandy’s Baby Gift After Firing From Below Deck Med, Says She Was Painted Like “Drug Addict” in Final Season
Hannah Ferrier continues to have bad blood with Captain Sandy Yawn after Hannah was fired on Below Deck Mediterranean. Last year, the 34-year-old allegedly broke protocol by not listing her anxiety medication before boarding.
Captain Sandy revealed the decision was hard for her, but it wasn’t personal. Even though both women had been on the show for many seasons, Sandy felt like she was protecting her own career when she let go of Hannah.
On the Shine It Up podcast, Hannah shared that Captain Sandy offered to send a baby gift after Hannah announced her pregnancy in 2020 (she recently had a baby girl, Ava, with her partner Josh Roberts). In a message, Sandy asked Hannah for her current address so she could ship the gift. In her own words, Hannah “was like, ‘Lady, no.’”
Hannah felt that she was painted “like a drug addict” in her final season. “It was really upsetting at the time,” she said. “Especially after being on the show for so many years and knowing that it wasn’t a hidden fact that I suffered from anxiety and had anti-anxiety medication.”
The Bravo star said she didn’t like the “stigma” of that storyline. “Anxiety medication is for a mental illness,” she explained. “So it shouldn’t be painted like, ‘You’re a drug addict smuggling drugs on board.’”
Earlier this year, Hannah revealed that her biggest regret on the show was trying to impress Captain Sandy, who, in Hannah’s opinion, would never change her mind. Hannah said it crushed her spirit when the captain told her that yachting wasn’t Hannah’s passion.
She said another thing that bothered her was the way Sandy handled the situation. When Hannah first learned she was getting fired, she called her attorney and agent. The captain, however, didn’t seem to encourage this.
Despite the negativity from her final season, Hannah has built a successful career since leaving the show. She has her own podcast called Dear Reality, You’re Effed!, and she recently released an insect repellent, Bugs Off, which is apparently non-toxic and environmentally friendly.
Though she was sad to end the show in such a way, the 34-year-old said many people with anxiety reached out to her afterward and gave her positive responses.
Former Below Deck Mediterranean star Hannah Ferrier still hasn’t buried the hatchet with her old boss Captain Sandy Yawn.
Speaking to the Shine It Up podcast, Hannah revealed that she rejected Sandy’s offer of a baby gift last year.
‘She reached out to me when I had the baby, when I announced my pregnancy,’ Hannah explained.

‘She said, “Can I get your address to send the baby a present?” I was like, “Lady, no.”‘
Speaking to Peninsula Living in August, Hannah said that it was unfair how she was painted out ‘like a drug addict’ for bringing undeclared anti-anxiety medication on board.
On the show, Hannah was fired by Sandy for failing to declare Valium and a CBD pen on the luxury mega-yacht, which is protocol.
‘It was really upsetting at the time, especially after being on the show for so many years and knowing that it wasn’t a hidden fact that I suffered from anxiety and had anti-anxiety medication,’ she explained.
‘I didn’t like that it was presented as I had drugs on board, because I don’t like that stigma,’ she continued.
‘Anxiety medication is for a mental illness, so it shouldn’t be painted like, “You’re a drug addict smuggling drugs on board”.’

The yachtie also admitted that she was ‘sad that it ended that way’ after so many years on the hit Bravo series.
‘But the response I got from people suffering from anxiety was amazing,’ she added.
Since leaving the show, Hannah has launched her own podcast and released an insect repellent fan called Bugs Off.
In September, Sandy admitted that Hannah was ‘still angry’ about being fired on the show.
‘She’s still angry. It’s so hard because for me, it wasn’t personal. It’s about my career,’ Sandy told Us Weekly.
