Captain Jason Is Plotting a Major Career Move: “It’s Me In A Bottle” (EXCLUSIVE)
Below Deck Down Under‘s Captain Jason Chambers is working on a new signature scent and we have the exclusive details on the perfume.
Captain Jason Chambers can do it all. Not only is the single dad the captain at the helm of Below Deck Down Under, but he’s currently working on his debut perfume, Captain J, which will officially put him into the beauty space.
In a recent interview with The Daily Dish, Captain Jason explained that he learned a lot about the perfume-making process during the development of the gender-neutral fragrance. “And this scent, well, it has to be Captain J because it actually is me in a bottle,” he said. “It’s what I like and everyone can get a piece of it.”
Jason continued, revealing that the product has been in development for over six months. “It’s done in the best manner as well as the best technology,” he added. “So it actually lasts long and it’s just got some great stuff in it.”
What does Captain Jason Chambers’ perfume smell like?
Although bottling up the true essence of Jason might seem like no small feat, he was able to capture it all — from the sea salt of the ocean, to the rope on the yacht deck.
“It’s got that boat feel that you’re on a boat and you can smell the rope and you can see the ocean,” he said. “But it’s also the sand in your feet. And me going to a waterfall and the water rushing over me. It’s got an earthy tone, but it’s gender neutral.”

Jason revealed that the perfume first started as a facial spray, made with essential oils, that he would blend himself and bring with him around each yachting season. “I’d come up with something new every season, and then I sprayed it in all the camera people’s faces and the sound [team] people’s faces. And when we’re fatigued, it just wakes us up and brightens us up,” he said.
This spray was originally just a mix of tea tree, eucalyptus, and sandalwood oils diluted in mineral water: “I always have essential oils around. So I started with essential oils and moved into perfume.”
Although he did not reveal when the perfume would be out, or how much it costs, scent has clearly been a passion of his for a long time.
Captain Jason appeared on his friend, Vanderpump Rules’ Scheana Shay’s podcast on Nov. 10, 2023, where she confirmed what he smells like. This is, of course, “essential oils,” as Jason does not wear any other traditional cologne.
“I only use essential oils,” he said. “Yeah, I kind of put my little ones together and make a little spray, and that’s it.”
