Prince William Finally Gave Up One Of The Saddest Titles To Hand Over To Prince Louis!

The youngest of Wales didn’t disappoint as he attended the Trooping the Colour ceremony this year. During just one of his many animated displays, Louis was caught on camera scrunching up his face, while his mother appeared to crouch down to talk with her son on a balcony on Horse Guards Parade.

The British royal family has long been a source of fascination, captivating people around the globe with its royal weddings, family feuds, and the dramas that often unfold within its walls.

In a shocking new twist, Prince Louis, adored by royal fans around the world for his expressive behavior, might one day inherit a title with a tragic history. This title dates back to the late 17th century when it was first given out by his father. Senior members of the royal family hold titles with centuries-old histories, each with its own intriguing legacy.

William became the Prince of Wales when Charles was crowned King, but prior to that, he held three other titles, including the Duke of Cambridge. Even though he is now known as the Prince of Wales, he still holds the title of Duke of Cambridge, which can only be passed down to one of his sons, George or Louis. Many royal fans may not know about the tragedies associated with this title, dating back to the reign of Charles II. William is only the eighth person to hold this title since its creation by Charles II in 1660. Within 17 years of its creation, the title saw four different holders due to a succession of early deaths.

ROYALS IN SHOCKE! Prince Louis might eventually inherit his father Prince William's "unlucky" title

The very first Duke of Cambridge was Charles Stuart, the eldest nephew of the King, who tragically died at just six months old. His younger brother, James Stuart, was next in line but also passed away young, possibly from smallpox or the bubonic plague. The King then bestowed the title upon his third oldest nephew, Edgar Stuart, who also died at the age of three. Finally, their younger brother, Charles Stuart, became Duke but died just 35 days later. Unsurprisingly, the title went unused until 1706, when Queen Anne granted it to the future King George II, the fifth Duke of Cambridge.

King George III later gave the title to his seventh son, Prince Adolphus, and it eventually passed to Adolphus’s son, Prince George, but it became extinct after his death, as his marriage had violated the Royal Marriages Act of 1772. Prince George, currently heir to the Dukedom, may inherit this title only if the timing aligns with his father’s ascension to the throne. Should George become the Prince of Wales sooner than expected, Louis could become the next Duke of Cambridge. Alternatively, Louis might receive a different title, such as the Duke of York, traditionally held by the monarch’s second son.

This year, the young prince didn’t disappoint at the Trooping the Colour ceremony, delighting fans with his animated expressions. Caught on camera scrunching his face, Louis appeared to chat with his mother, the Princess of Wales, as she crouched down to speak with him. At one point, the cheeky six-year-old was even seen tugging on the cords of the blinds and attempting to open a window, much to the amusement of royal watchers.

Though Prince Louis has not yet attended Wimbledon, his older siblings have. Only Princess Charlotte joined her mother and aunt, Pippa Middleton, in the Royal Box for the men’s singles final. The Princess of Wales kindly received a signed pair of Adidas Stan Smith trainers for Prince Louis from 1972 Wimbledon men’s singles champion Stan Smith. These shoes will likely remain untouched in Louis’s wardrobe, treasured as priceless memorabilia, especially when he grows older and understands their historical value.
