Prince William, 42, and Kate, 43, are parents to Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, six.

Speaking to 60 Minutes Australia, Jason spoke about William growing up in front of the media.

I definitely saw the worried mum and dad behind the scenes.

He said: “His childhood in front of the media was quite difficult at times. And then he knew that he was going to be raising his kids to deal with social media and mobile phones and all of that stuff.

“I definitely saw the worried mum and dad behind the scenes, but a lot less in recent years, which has been fantastic for them as a family.”

William and Kate ‘set rules’ for their children using social media

Social media plays a huge role in people’s daily lives, with many children now using platforms online.

According to a previous report, Prince William and Kate are conscious of this and have put measures in place to keep their three young children safe just like many other parents.

A source reportedly told Life & Style: “They’d love to be able to totally shield them from social media, but the older they get, the harder that is. So instead, they’ve decided on a lot of rules.

“First thing is they aren’t allowed to have their own accounts. They have shared family accounts that they are all logged into that are strictly for viewing content.”

Meanwhile in his 60 Minutes Australia interview, Jason also opened up about how William dealt with Kate’s cancer diagnosis.

The Princess of Wales shared her diagnosis publicly last March. She has since announced she’s in remission following a course of treatment.

When asked if he remembers the phone call he had with Prince William about Kate’s diagnosis, Jason said: “It was awful, absolutely awful. It’s the lowest I’ve ever seen him.”

He added: “The problem was that all this crazy conspiracy theory stuff kicked off in the background online, ‘was she really ill?’

“But they didn’t want to say yet that she had cancer because they hadn’t told the children. They were still working through how to tell the children.”
