Kate Chastain Shares a Hilarious Update on Her Son, Sullivan Cay: “Not on His Preference Sheet”
The Below Deck alum reveals what her 1-year-old has been up to since their big home move.
Kate Chastain understands that some palates are difficult to satisfy, as she’s encountered many charter guests with strict diet limitations, strong food preferences, and impossible culinary standards. And while it’s been years since she exited the yachting industry, the former chief stew is still dealing with a picky eater.
This was proven on April 1, when the Below Deck alum shared a quick update on her 1-year-old son, Sullivan Cay. Kate posted an adorable Instagram Story of her boy sitting in his high chair with pieces of food spread across the floor.
“Eggs were not on his preference sheet,” she captioned the post, suggesting Sullivan wasn’t a fan of the breakfast staple.

The amusing snap provided another glimpse at Kate’s newly purchased “dream home.” The photo showed off the brown arabesque kitchen tile, built-in china cabinets, and large sash windows overlooking the stunning backyard.
Kate moved into the house in early 2025, nearly two years after she secured a “craftsman bungalow” in Fort Lauderdale. She spoke about her and Sullivan’s new digs in a January interview with The Daily Dish, revealing why she was so drawn to the property.
“I think what makes this house special is I’m not a person who likes modern interior design. Like [Below Deck alum] Ben Robinson, for example, loves modern. I feel like it’s cold and too perfect,” she explained over the phone. “I like something with a little personality, a little imperfections. [It] makes it interesting and beautiful. I’m just really happy.”
Kate Chastain plans to upgrade her backyard
Kate said the home underwent renovations before she moved in, which meant major updates weren’t necessary; however, there was one area she wanted to elevate: the backyard.
“It’s got landscaping with the vines and you can’t buy that, so I’m just in love with it,” she said. “But there is a section where I’m thinking I would like to put in a plunge pool because in Florida, especially, it’s very hot. And my dream home, it was always going to have a pool.”
Kate shared another look at her outdoor space in a recent Instagram Story, which showed Sullivan standing by the water fountain beside the family dog.
“Perfect day,” Kate captioned the post with a 77-degree Fahrenheit stamp.
