Brianna Duffield Clarifies Why She Had “Second Thoughts” About Romance with Harry Off Boat

Brianna revealed why she’s hesitating to have the “girlfriend” talk with Harry on Below Deck Down Under.

Despite weeks of cuddles, dating, and kisses on Season 3 of Below Deck Down Under, we got major hints on Episode 15 that Harry Van Vliet and Brianna Duffield may not be sailing off into the sunset when the charter season ends.

“I just — I’m having second thoughts about me and Harry outside of the boat,” Brianna confessed.

Sparks flew between the lead deckhand and third stew right away, and they’ve grown closer as the charter season continued.

“Both Bri and Harry have such approachable and fun, soft personalities,” deckhand Adair Werley commented on the March 10 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. “So, obviously, I think they gravitated towards each other immediately, off the bat.”

But they also hit a few waves along their romantic journey. In Episode 6, the Australian native turned down spending time with Bri in a guest cabin and told then-bosun Wihan Du Toit that he felt like it was “too soon” to be spending time together like that. Bri was frustrated with Harry’s decision.

“I feel like I’ve laid all my cards out there with Harry,” she said. “But, if Harry’s not gonna make a move, I see this fading out.”

Now, the two seem to be in a role reversal, with Bri as the one pulling away.

As they cuddled in a bunk during Episode 15, Harry told her: “I’m happy. You make me happy. I would love to keep traveling with you after the season … go to Cape Town. Safari! Just us.”

“You’re going to be such an amazing travel partner. I’m so excited,” Bri responded.

“We can do whatever we want. In New York, I was thinking hostel,” he continued.

But Bri bristled at Harry’s suggestion.

“I stayed in a hostel. Once. It was a communal bathroom. Never again,” Bri explained in her confessional, indicating the couple wasn’t on the same page.

Does Brianna want to keep dating Harry?
Chief stewardess Lara Rigby chatted with Harry and pointed out that there was only one more charter before Harry left to travel with his “new girlfriend or wifey.”

She asked him if the couple had the “exclusivity chat.”

“No. Well, I think it’s assumed,” Harry responded, but Lara pushed him not to assume.

Lara also checked in with Brianna to get her take on where the relationship was going.

“I think he’s amazing and he’s relationship potential. I’m excited to travel with him and stuff,” Brianna responded, but then added, “I finally got to a point where I was just like happy on my own.”

She explained more in her confessional: “It hasn’t been more than a year since I broke up with my ex-fiancé, so I don’t know if emotionally I’m ready to invest into someone yet … I don’t know if we’re completely compatible. I’m a little unsure.”

Brianna shared with Lara she’s not ready to call herself Harry’s girlfriend.

“I’m a big believer in stuff comes when you’re not looking for it, but I’m in no rush for a title,” she said.

Where do Brianna and Harry stand now?

Brianna revealed on the April 21 episode of WWHL she’s “been living in Australia since November.”

But she played it coy when elaborating on what that means for the couple.

“Harry and I are very, very close,” she added. “We talk often, but you’re gonna have to wait ‘til the season ends to see.”

Bri did share that she was the one who “had more hope the boatmance would carry over to land,” and that she believed she liked Harry more than he liked her — also calling Harry the one who was “more afraid of commitment.”

Despite Bri’s vagueness, Harry was blunt about his relationship status on the March 10 episode of WWHL when he revealed: “Yeah, I’m single.”

Don’t miss Harry’s exclusive answer to where he stands with the focus of his last boatmance, Margot Sisson, on Below Deck Down Under Season 2.
