Kate Chastain Shares “an Interesting New Development” on Her Son, Sullivan Cay
Below Deck alum Kate Chastain has entered into a new era as a mom.
Kate Chastain’s life has been looking very different since welcoming her son Sullivan Cay Chastain in May 2023. Instead of putting together tablescapes and doing rocket ship-shaped towel art, Kate is now embracing life with a toddler on the move.
The Below Deck alum caught up with The Daily Dish in January 2025 — as she was in the process of moving to a new home — and she shared an adorable update on what her baby boy is doing.
“Lately, he can count to ten. He knows the phonetic alphabet, but he’s always counting to ten. …” she gushed. “[He] loves the letters.”
The former chief stew added that Sullivan has picked up on something else recently as well.
“He also learned ‘No’ recently and what it means and that he can use it,” she continued. “So that’s been an interesting new development.”
She joked, “I’m trying to replace it with please, but we’re not quite there yet. But, with time, I’m sure he’ll get there.”
Kate’s adorable update on her 20-month-old comes just a few days after she revealed that she bought her “dream home” for the two.
Kate Chastain and Sullivan Cay move into a new home
After purchasing a “craftsman bungalow” shortly before Sullivan was born, Kate has made another move. The mom of one took to her Instagram Story earlier this month to share a look at the “historic, beautiful home” she just purchased for her and her son.
Select Stories of the spacious new property showed off her new kitchen. The open space features white cabinets, dark countertops, a wood-topped center island, and plenty of storage — though she admitted she still needs to toddler-proof the cabinet doors.
Then, more recently, Kate shared exclusive details and photos of her home in an interview with The Daily Dish.
“I think what makes this house special is I’m not a person who likes modern interior design. Like [Below Deck alum] Ben Robinson, for example, loves modern. I feel like it’s cold and too perfect,” she said in a phone interview. “I like something with a little personality, a little imperfections. [It] makes it interesting and beautiful. I’m just really happy.”
Kate and Sullivan aren’t the only ones who will be living in the new abode. Back in October 2024, The Traitors alum adopted two finches named Celine and Rene (who join her first pet, a dog named Halo).
“At this point, what difference is [two] more things to keep alive going to make,” Kate joked on Instagram when she first revealed her new additions.
