Hallmark Star Barbara Niven Drops Chilly New Clue About Mystery Christmas Movie

Hannah Swensen Mysteries” star Barbara Niven is working on a new Hallmark Christmas movie, and she recently gave Hallmark fans a little tease about it.
Niven has not officially revealed exactly what she’s currently filming. However, she has confirmed that it is for Hallmark, and fans have ideas regarding what it might be.
Based on her latest social media posts, the weather has been more than cooperative in terms of providing a winter wonderland for production.
Barbara Niven Shared a Cold Filming Update From Winnipeg
On April 2, Niven shared a new video via her Instagram and Facebook pages. She took it while sitting in the car, and shared that she’s been in Winnipeg, Manitoba, filming a new Christmas movie.
Hallmark often films their Christmas movies in the spring and summer. In this case, filming is happening early enough in the spring that the weather is still pretty wintery.
“I think this is the coldest I’ve ever been, for the longest it’s ever been,” Niven revealed.
She continued, “We have real snow, and that is making us feel Christmassy every day.”
Niven told Hallmark fans she couldn’t wait for fans to see this one. She added that she couldn’t reveal more yet, “Because it’s still a secret. But soon. Thank you, Hallmark Channel.”
According to Weather Underground, on April 2, the Winnipeg area had a high temperature of 38 degrees Fahrenheit and a low of 30.
That isn’t actually out of the norm historically for the area, though. Weather Underground indicated that the average high for April 2 in Winnipeg is 40.8 degrees, and the low is 20.6.
It was clear from Niven’s video that there is still a lot of snow on the ground in the area, so it looks like it has been easy for everybody to get into a wintery, Christmas mindset.
Fans loved Niven’s tease and expressed their excitement for more details.
“Sorry it’s cold but probably better to film a Christmas movie with snow than in hot weather! Looking forward to hearing more,” one fan wrote.
Another commented, “WOW Beautiful, the snow and you! Can’t wait to hear more and can’t wait to see this movie! You look great and happy! Much love and a big warm hug.”
Niven’s Movie Also Stars Victor Webster
While Niven didn’t spill the beans on what she’s filming, it does look as if information about the project is emerging.
It appears that Niven is co-starring with fellow “Hannah Swensen Mysteries” star Victor Webster in a 2026 Hallmark Christmas movie. “Marry Go Round” star Amanda Schull also stars in it. The new movie starring Schull, Webster, and Niven is titled “Double Con Christmas.”
According to ACTRA Manitoba, “Double Con Christmas” began filming in Manitoba on March 23, and it is slated to wrap on or around April 11.
Webster has posted teasers about filming in Winnipeg via his social media pages, as well. He also noted it had been cold. In one video, he filmed outdoors with some snow falling and a gorgeous resort in the background.
He said, “It’s looking very Christmassy out here…It’s actually cold for a Christmas movie; we’re not shooting one in July with fake snow everywhere.”
According to Casting Workbook, “Double Con Christmas” features a single mom named Lexi Chambers who runs a catering company.
Lexi heads to a ski lodge for a vacation that turns out to be a “match-making ploy concocted by her mother, June, and her old ‘friend’ Dan.”
At this stage, little else has emerged about the movie, but it seems that Webster and Niven are having a great time filming, and Hallmark fans will be eager to learn more. Webster, Schull, and Niven’s “Double Con Christmas” is expected to debut during Hallmark’s 2026 “Countdown to Christmas.”
