Hallmark’s Yan-Kay Crystal Lowe Bravely Shares Tough Cancer Update
yan-Kay Crystal Lowe has been flooded with love and encouragement from fans and fellow Hallmark stars after sharing a difficult update about her cancer fight. The brave actress and director has been battling stage 3 breast cancer since the fall of 2025, and had hoped that two types of chemo infusions, her recent double mastectomy would get rid of any remaining cancer.
But in a vulnerable social media post on March 17, 2026, Lowe shared in the caption of her video, “After removing the node that they knew had cancer and the four surrounding it they discovered….drum roll please…more cancer.”
Crystal Lowe Will Undergo Another Surgery Before Radiation
Lowe, 45, first revealed her cancer diagnosis to fans in October as she was beginning four months of chemotherapy treatments. She then underwent a double mastectomy on February 19, which included a lymph node dissection, removing the sentinel node and several other nodes under her arm to check for any remaining cancer.
After a mastectomy, pathologists closely examine the removed tumor and the tissue around it to determine if all of the cancer was removed with “clear margins,” according to the Mayo Clinic.
In her March 17 video, Lowe said she waited to share the results of her pathology report until she had a plan in place, sharing, “Unfortunately, when they took out one of my nodes and four around it to be cautious, they discovered more cancer in my nodes in the right arm.”
The “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” star said two “tiny” additional spots were also discovered in her chest wall, so she’ll undergo a second surgery on March 18 to remove “a section of the nodes” and any remaining cancer in her chest. She’ll then have to heal from that surgery before she can start her planned course of radiation, she said.
Lowe, who shares two young kids with her husband Miko Tomasevich, ended her video by saying, “So, send me your love. Send me your prayers.”
“Did I cry…yes,” she wrote in her caption. “Am I happy with the new plan…yes! I’m doing everything in my power to get rid of Barry (my cancer) he’s holding on but…he’s gotta move out now. You’re getting evicted tomorrow Barry!!! Pack your bags!”
