‘Below Deck’ Star Katie Flood Reveals ‘Gut-Wrenching’ 24 Hours in Dubai

Imagine enjoying an afternoon boat ride with friends when a missile is suddenly intercepted overhead — that’s what former Below Deck Mediterranean chief stew Katie Flood witnessed in Dubai, later sharing the shocking moment on Instagram as she opened up about a terrifying 24 hours in the city.
Flood, who lives in Dubai, has been posting regular updates and firsthand accounts of the incident, which came as intercepted drones and missiles caused damage and injuries across Dubai and Abu Dhabi amid escalating regional tensions in the Middle East.
“I just wanted to say thank you to everybody who has messaged me, DM’d me…I am safe, the UAE is safe,” she shared on her Instagram story. “I have full faith in our defense force here; they’ve been absolutely incredible, and they have intercepted every single missile and every single drone.”
She continued, “In saying that, I’d be lying if I said it hasn’t been a pretty f—ing scary 24 hours. Just the sound of an interception alone is pretty gut-wrenching.”
Flood added that viewers should not believe everything they are seeing on “mainstream media. I guess to the best of our ability are somewhat good. I’m just sending love to everybody in the UAE. We’re all going through this together.”
Flood wasn’t the only Below Deck crew member witnessing the strikes. Below Deck Down Under Second Officer João Franco shared on his Instagram story that “We can hear the bombings and interceptions from the port! Stay safe, people.”
Franco also posted an image of an emergency alert urging residents to “seek immediate shelter” during the crisis and to “await for further instructions.” He added, “Crazy times we live in.”
The story continues to unfold in the Middle East. The death of Iran’s supreme leader in U.S. and Israeli strikes has escalated regional tensions, with Iran launching retaliatory attacks across multiple Middle Eastern countries, NBC News reports.
