5 MINS AGO: Catherine Sends SHOCK Message In High-Level Meeting Between Senior Royals To Decide
For their 2016 Royal Tour, William and Catherine, (plus their two lovely children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte) are currently in Canada. Being the stylish lady that she is, we’re sure that the tour will serve up its fair share of great sartorial moments, all of which we’ll be keeping a close eye on.
Members of the royal family, as we all know, are meant to remain at all times above politics, methodically refraining from anything like an overt comment. However, they are grand masters at covertly signaling their true feelings on sensitive matters in ingenious ways.
Katherine, the Princess of Wales, has just delivered a stunning message to the US president, and it’s one that would not have gone unnoticed. After she pleased Canadians with her appearance at the poignant Commonwealth Day service yesterday, back in 2019, to meet Mr. Trump for the first time during a state visit, her late Majesty wore a brooch that had been given to her by his implacable foes, Barack and Michelle Obama.
Over the course of The Apprentice host’s time in London, she then proceeded to wear a brooch that had been given to her by the governor general of Canada, and a third that was a symbol of mourning with the late Queen’s death. It seemed we were in danger of that wonderful chapter of sartorial smoke signals coming to an end, but Catherine could have just picked up her mantle and may be getting set to run with it.
The princess has clearly learned from the maestro herself, choosing an outfit for this week’s Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey. At the service, Catherine wore a striking red Katherine Walker dress and a matching hat by Gina Foster. This was met with much praise by Canadians online, who believed the color of the dress could have been a subtle nod to their country.
Regardless of whether the dress was worn with this intention or not, royal fans from Canada were quick to praise the future queen on Instagram. The princess, who is famous for re-wearing trusty pieces in her wardrobe, might just have given us the world’s first known instance of politically motivated recycling.
As reported, her nod to Canadian colors would not have gone unnoticed in the country. One fan wrote, “Thank you for always showing your love and support to Canada. You look stunning. I am Canadian and hope that the Princess of Wales’ red dress was a quiet salute to the country,” while another added, “Your Royal Highness, you are wearing the colors of the maple leaf, our flag. I noticed it immediately because it’s the exact shade of red. If it is so, then I thank you for it as we negotiate through difficult times.”
“Whether it was intentional or not, stunning Catherine in that stunning red outfit with the lovely white pearls sent a subtle nod to Canada at a very difficult time for our country.”

The Duchess has upped the fashion ante once again, this time with a crimson midi dress from PR by Thornton Bazi. She donned the look for a reception at Government House in Victoria, hosted by the Government of British Columbia. She styled the dress with matching red suede pumps and finished off the look with what could be her new signature accessory: a diamond maple leaf brooch that was given to her by Queen Elizabeth.
Catherine wore the pin of the Canadian emblem over the weekend upon arriving. She wore the same piece during her royal tour of Canada in 2011.
Meanwhile, King Charles was also in on the act, using his address to call on the family of 56 Commonwealth nations to unite in these uncertain times, saying the organization remains as ever important today. His daughter-in-law’s surprisingly loaded gesture at the Abbey on Tuesday comes at a time when the royal family is increasingly being drawn into the geopolitical rough and tumble.
Mr. Trump was reportedly left in a strop after the king invited Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to his Sandringham estate for tea last week in what was a very pointed show of public support. The king then followed up a day after Mr. Zelensky left to continue his efforts fending off a rapacious, ravenous Russia by having one of the president’s highest-profile adversaries, Mr. Trudeau, over for a cup of tea.
Two allies of the US president have made clear to UK officials in America that pictures of the king with the Ukrainian leader made him feel less special about the monarch’s invitation for a state visit to Britain. Things definitely went a bit cool in Washington after Sandringham. We told them that the king makes his own decisions about who he meets.
